A world renowned Pakistani Computer Engineer, and the youngest Entreprenuer Umar Saif, is the world youngest PhD degree holder, he is the founder of Plan9, which is Pakistan’s largest start up incubator. Plan 9 is considered to be the main driving force behind the IT ecosystem in Pakistan. He also served as the Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board, and he introduced low cost smart phones, which had a very good impact on introducing technology in government. His work is recognized as one the three global examples of good governance and innovations. The World Bank President highlighted his work.
Umar Saif graduated from BSc from LUMS, and he did his PhD in Computer from University of Cambridge. He is the Vice Chancellor of Information technology University Punjab and he has established Plan9, the first startup incubator of Pakistan. He is also running SCI (Saif centre of innovation). He also received MIT Technovator Award, and World Economic Forum recognized him as Young Global Leader.
MIT Technology board of MIT listed Saif, on the top of World’s Top Young Innovators in 2011”. He also got Sitar-e-Imtiaz in recognition to his services for Pakistan and Pakistanis.
